Doolin, in County Clare, is the closest mainland departure point to the Aran Islands and a very popular option.

Ferries operate seasonally from March to October, with multiple daily sailings during the summer months. The crossing takes approximately 15–35 minutes, depending on weather and the boat you go on.

Doolin is located in County Clare, about a 1.5-hour drive from Galway, and is well signposted.

ARAN ISLAND FERRIES

Rosaveel (Ros an Mhíl) is the main year-round ferry port serving the Aran Islands.

Sailings operate all year round, with a journey time of approximately 40–50 minutes. This is the most reliable option during the winter months.

Rosaveel is about 45 minutes from Galway City, with shuttle buses available from the city centre to meet sailings.
